Forward Artillery Observation Post LARTOS

The LARTOS system is used for identifying targets and objects, determining the distance to them and also their angular coordinates regarding the product itself or a particular outboard point (position) whose coordinates have been preliminarily entered/set into the system.

Composition, general functional description and technical characteristics of the system:
The LARTOS system includes several different functional modules (goniometer, laser distance gauge, GPS, magnetic compass), ensuring the execution of the operational assignments of the artillery instrumental surveillance (determining the azimuth, the angle of elevation, the distance from the product
to the target and the distance from the outboard position to the target). The LARTOS system shall maintain a database with the coordinates of both targets and objects. This database shall be energy indеpendent, i.e. when switching off the power supply, the data shall not be lost. The LARTOS product shall have a standard serial interface for exporting data to external devices and systems. The LARTOS product shall allow the laser distance gauge to be used separately from the LARTOS product as a distance gauge and binoculars. The system also includes a tripod, a power unit, cables and software. The system shall be easy to deploy, shall have a clear and intuitive software interface. The entire product as a set shall have factory packaging allowing the product to be transported by machines.

Goniometer
The minimum compulsory requirements for the parameters of the goniometer are the following:
– Measurement of horizontal angles from 00 – 00 X to 59 – 99 X with an allowance of + (00 – 01) X
– Measurement of vertical angles + (05 – 00) X with an allowance of + (00 – 01) X
– Interface for exchanging data with external devices, serial (RS 232)

– To be stored at temperatures: -30° C to +60° C
– Relative humidity: 5% to 95% without condensation

Laser distance gauge
The minimum compulsory requirements for the parameters of the goniometer are the following:
– To measure distances of up to 20000 m with an allowance of + 5 in the presence of meteorological visibility at this distance
– Working wavelength – 1.54 µm
– Optical magnification of the optical system – 7 x
– Interface for exchanging data with external devices, serial (RS 232)

Thermal camera
The minimum compulsory requirements for the parameters of the goniometer are the following:
– Working spectral range (7.5 – 13.5 ) µm
– Pixel value – 17 µm
– Matrix resolution – 336×256 or 640×480 pixels
– Type of receiver – VOx Microbolometer, non-cooled
– Type of the output signal – analogue, 1 Vpp PAL (CCIR), NTSC (RS-170) and/or digital BT601,656
– Detection of a vehicle (2.3m x 2.3m) at a distance of up to 5500 m
– Recognition of a vehicle (2.3m x 2.3m) at a distance of up to 1680 m
– Identification of a vehicle (2.3m x 2.3m) at a distance of up to 850 m

Ballistic computer
The ballistic computer shall be of the type of tablet-PC and shall allow work in the daylight. It shall also have anti-reflexive coating of the display and protection class IP65, shall be resistant to impact and vibration in accordance with MIL 810F. It is recommended for the display to have sensor control (touch screen control), which in field conditions will facilitate the work of the personnel using the product. Minimum compulsory requirements for the parameters of the ballistic computer:

Programme provision of the ballistic computer:
– To be able to read the data from the measuring modules (goniometer, laser distance gauge, GPS, magnetic compass) over preset intervals of time
– To be able to calculate all the indirect parameters related to the outboard position (azimuth of the target, elevation, distance)
– To record a set of data about each certain target following a command given by the operator
– To export data about the target via the serial interface to external devices
– To visualize on the display the image from the thermographic camera (option)
– To save the image from the thermographic camera in the permanent memory of the ballistic computer (option)
